A Class of Efficient Estimators of Finite Population Mean using Unbiased Estimators of One Utilizing the Auxiliary Information
Abstract
The present paper utilizes the auxiliary information for developing an improved class of estimators by combining the sample mean of the study variable, which is unbiased estimator for the population mean under simple random sampling without replacement (SRSWOR) scheme with an unbiased estimator of one. The bias of the developed class of estimators can be reduced to zero or can be made smaller by proper choice of parameters / constants used in the class based on the auxiliary information. Again, the conditions under which the proposed class of estimators become most efficient were derived. The performance of the proposed class was analyzed both theoretically and numerically by considering some practical examples.
