A Correlational Study of Different Preferences of Vocational Interests of Under-Graduate Students in Non-Professional Courses of Higher Education with Reference to Central U.P
Archna Sinha
Abstract
There is a need to understand the events, experiences and decisions before finalizing the vocational decisions having a very strong traditional history. The final decision (which may not be made until after the individual has left school) is the result of a process stretching over many years (it may be ten years or more), during which the individual gradually clarifies his self-concept, his goals and his values, and gains some measure of insight into his interests and abilities. Certain decisions that he may make during this period (such as the decision to leave school or to take the vocational rather than the college preparatory course) will in due course necessitate other decisions which could well prove to be important turning points in his career. The major driving force in the vocational preference/decision is individual’s innate personality trait that ultimately decides which professional field one has to pursue in his future career. The present paper aims at studying the correlation between the different areas of vocational interest of undergraduate students in Science,Arts and Commerce streamsto analyze the difference between the students’mindsets in these streams.
