Alleged firing as a self infliction- A Case History

Abstract

In this paper, reconstruction of scene of crime method has been used to solve a crime case. In this case, investigating officer stated that the barber Mr. ‘X’ (Hair Dresser) was in his shop in the evening at about 7.0 P.M and at that time Mr. ‘Y’ came in his shop for hair dressing. They started to quarrel with each other on some matter and both of them separated by the neighbors. The investigating officer further stated that Mr. ‘Y’ reached at the shop of Mr. ‘X’ (Hair Dresser) along with his younger brother Mr. ‘Z’ at about 9.30-10.0 P.M. and opened fire on Mr. ‘X’. And, the barber Mr. ‘X’ got injured in this firing and glass of his shop also got broken. The investigating officer informed to the expert that one 7.65mm fired cartridge case was handed over to him by the complainant’s relative on next day at the time of his visit, but no firearm projectile/case could be recovered neither by the local forensic expert nor by the investigating officer. The purpose of the investigating officer was to know whether it was a case of real firing or self-infliction or otherwise.
