An Inventory Model with Imperfect Production and Time Dependent Demand with Destructive Testing and Inspection Errors
Abstract
In most practical production processes, the production is not always perfect and produces a fraction of defectives. For maintaining the goodwill of organization, it becomes imperative to offer standard quality products. Therefore, the manufacturer/producer employs the inspection policy to bifurcate the perfect and imperfect products. This paper presents an inventory model for a buyer that purchases inventories of perfect and imperfect quality together with the Type II inspection error. This paper also considers, time dependent increasing demand and a single acceptance sampling incorporating destructive testing. It is assumed that if lot is rejected, it is sold at a reduced cost. The objective of this study is to optimize the total expected inventory cost and ordering quantity during a given cycle length. The applicability of the developed model is shown by a numerical example, algorithms and graphs. The sensitive analysis of various parameters is also given.
