Availability Improvement of a Hot Standby System by Inclusion of a Substitute System
Gurvindar Kaur , Praveen Gupta
Abstract
The present study deals with the comparison of reliability and availability characteristics of two different systems. Both the systems differ due to additional inclusion of substitute system giving uninterrupted operation. Kolmogorov’s forward equations are used to obtain reliability characteristics. Repair times and failure times of each unit are assumed to be exponentially distributed.
