Development of Process Control Charts to Monitor Compound Fraction Defectives for an Un-
Stabilized Production Process
Abstract
In this article, a new control chart to monitor compound fraction defectives for an un-stabilized production
process is developed. The mean and variance of truncated compound distribution are derived and utilized to
develop the control limits. In an un-stabilized process, nonconformities exist largely and the process may lead to
out-of-control. Hence, appropriate control chart is to be developed for un-stabilized quality circumstances. The
newly developed chart has good advantages over other charts by maintaining a single chart by compounding
two variable characteristics. This chart can monitor and control the fraction defectives in a production process
and at the same time will control the variability in the sample sizes. The efficiency of Control Charts is
measured through ARL values and is compared with other charts. It is found that the ARL of the proposed
control chart gives better performance over other control charts during a lack of stability in the production
process.
