Evaluating the Performance of Parallel-Series System using Alpha Power Transformed Sujatha Distribution
Maryam Mohiuddin , R. Kannan
Abstract
In this study, the parallel-series system is considered for the evaluation of reliability. The system consists of m subsystems connected in parallel, and each subsystem comprises ofli components connected in series. It is assumed that the components of the system are independent and identically distributed with alpha power Sujatha distribution. The reliability of the original system has been obtained. Three different improvement methods are used to improve the system reliability. These are the reduction, hot duplication and cold duplication methods. Numerical illustration is used to examine the theoretical results. It has been observed that the cold duplicated system out performs the original system, the reduction method and the hot duplication method.
