Abstract

The present research is aimed at constructing enhanced estimation procedures for accurate estimation of ratio of two population means under double sampling technique. Efforts have been made to utilize prior knowledge on moments pertaining to auxiliary character to formulate a generalized double sampling estimator. The expressions for bias and mean squared error related to suggested estimator are derived and studied up to first order of sample size. Furthermore, the expression for minimum mean squared error has been obtained at the optimum values partial derivatives. A comparative study with the existing competing estimators has been accomplished to justify the efficiency and practical applicability of the proposed estimator. An empirical study to elucidate theoretical results through real population data sets is also presented as an illustration.
