On Testing Equality of Parameters of Two Pareto Distributions
Parameshwar V Pandit , Kala R Nayak
Abstract
Pareto distributions are useful models for a wide variety of socioeconomics situations, particularly, modeling income.  The comparison of two groups of people according to their income distribution has of great importance in the planning and policy making.  Hence, testing for equality of parameters in Pareto distribution is considered.  Likelihood Ratio Tests (LRTs) for the equalities of parameters are established for scale parameters. The powers of LRTs developed are estimated using simulation for selected values of parameters and for various sample sizes.
