Prefabricated Construction for Flood Relief Camps in Kolhapur City: A Review Study
Sumit Sakhare , Satish Deshmukh
Abstract
A country with more than a billion people which account to be a little over 17% of world’s population is trying hard to be one of the strongest economies in the world. India has the right potential but lack the proper infrastructure. As we all know, one must be stronger inside to be strong outside. India too need to mitigate the internal disturbances occurring per disaster. High population vs. inadequate infrastructure has been a long going battle for us which must be won now once and for all. Repeated flood situation has exposed India’s poor flood response in almost every state. Last year, two cities in Maharashtra, Sangli and Kolhapur were hit with the worst floods in the century. A prefabricated construction technique must be implemented for setting up the relief camps which will not only save the time of erection but also the ease of operations will be more in flood affected areas.
