Reliability Analysis of Juice Weighment System in the Sugar Industry by using Supplementary Variable Technique
Ramesh Kumar
Abstract

In this paper, the juice weighment system in the sugar industry is analyzed that having two subsystems- weighment tank and pumps by using supplementary variable technique. Subsystem ‘weighment tank’ has single unit whereas, subsystem ‘pumps’ consisting of two identical units- one unit is operative and other is kept as cold standby. The time to failure of the subsystems follows negative exponential distribution while repair time distribution is taken as arbitrary. The differential-difference equations associated with the state changeover model are developed by using supplementary variable technique and these equations are solved to get state probabilities of the system model. A particular case is also considered to show the behavior of reliability, availability, mean time to system failure (MTSF) and profit of the juice weighment system in the sugar industry.
